FAQ's
  1. Q: What is the difference between wysiwyg Perform 500, 1000, 2000 and 5000 the new wysiwyg Perform?

A: In January of 2005, channel restrictions are being removed from wysiwyg. Users will no longer have to lock themselves into a channel level and pay for upgrades as their needs increase. A: Memberships and Bug Fixes are completely separate. If a defect is discovered that requires an immediate fix, a Hotfix is released free of charge. The yearly Membership fee ensures that you will be up-to-date with the latest feature and library releases for wysiwyg.

  3. Q: How is your library unique?

A: wysiwyg boasts the most inclusive, accurate library in the industry. Our Library Developers go to great lengths to ensure that each item in the library is precise, personally testing every attribute to ensure that even if the manufacturer?s specs are wrong, your show will be correct.

  4. Q: How difficult it is to learn wysiwyg?

A: wysiwyg was designed to be powerful and easy to learn. The average user can go from installing the program to creating shows in under 2 hours.

  5. Q: I am a console operator. Is wysiwyg for me?

A: Yes indeed. wysiwyg Perform was conceived as a tool for Board Operators as much as for Lighting Designers. An operator with wysiwyg Perform can offer designers the ability to pre-program their show, giving both operator and designer a head start of hours, days or weeks. Furthermore, on-site editing can be done off-line, so even if your time in the venue has run out, there?s no need to stop working.

  6. Q: I am a Lighting Designer. Is wysiwyg for me?

A: As it exists today, wysiwyg is the result of 10 years of tireless effort driven by Lighting Professionals with a desire to improve the quality of production by simplifying the process of preparation. To that end, we have laboured to produce the industry?s most complete lighting package, offering users the ability to turn out all the necessary plots, paperwork and renderings, as well as the ability to pre-visualize and pre-cue a show. Lighting has been pushed to the forefront of productions because wysiwyg helps Lighting Professionals become the most well-organized, cost-effective members of the team.

  15. Q: Do I need a console to program a show with wysiwyg?

  16. Q: What is MiniConsole?

A: The MiniConsole is a simple 25 channel single scene preset console with which you can control lights in the Live Mode of wysiwyg Perform. It also gives you limited ability to record and playback cues.

  17. Q: Do you need a console to generate renderings?

A: No. wysiwyg Design and wysiwyg Perform have a built-in Design Mode that allows you to create lighting looks and produce renderings of those looks. You do not need to be connected to a console to use Design Mode. However, from Live Mode in wysiwyg Perform you can also generate renderings of the cues being created with your console. With wysiwyg R18 (and later), you can also use the Background Rendering Manager to queue multiple render jobs that will execute in the background while you work on other tasks.
