Not only is wysiwyg the industry standard in the lighting and production design for the entertainment industry, it is also the learning / teaching software tool of choice for students (our estimate is 6000 per year) and academics in more than 300 universities, colleges and schools around the world.
Vivien Learn is the academic version of Vivien which is the planning, selling, designing and production tool especially for the meetings and special events industry. A ground-breaking, intuitive software package, Vivien is for the full spectrum of event professionals who work in the special events and meetings industry. By making use of its wide array of tools, including onboard Wizards and a library of more than 3000 objects and textures, and the ability to import external files in a variety of formats.
Why Students Love CAST's software
CAST produces a special wysiwyg and Vivien packaged only for students called Student Edition, which is affordable and easy to learn. There are 2 Student Edition versions: wysiwyg and Vivien, each costing about as much as a textbook -- read our latest story: "So Easy a High Schooler Can Do It." From time to time, CAST also makes special offers to Students.
Student Edition comes with a dongle that is the property of each student and gives them portability.
Previzualization means seeing it virtually before it happens. The virtual world is a safe place and much valuable experience can be gained by experimenting with various design concepts and alternative technologies using wysiwyg's infamous library of 20,000 + industry-specific objects. Seeing these changes instantly on the computer is a much faster way to gain industry-useful experience.
Student Edition runs on PCs for the duration of the academic year. After graduation, Student Edition can be upgraded to a professional edition of wysiwyg so students graduate with the best tool (an important confidence-builder) as they launch their careers.
Why Faculty Loves CAST's software
CAST produces a special wysiwyg and Vivien packaged only for accredited academic and polytechnic institutes and schools called Learn; both are a virtual, previsualization software. Faculty and students can share files (email or USB stick) and standardize media for course work, but still retain creative independence (within the software's virtual world safe haven) for individual, group or class projects.
Previsualization means that with any CAD drawing of a stage or venue and using wysiwyg's massive library of 20,000 + industry-specific dynamic objects, you can generate virtually real scenarios to demonstrate how it's done, and the applicable rules, standards, options and alternatives. Onscreen changes can be as easy as a "click" to demonstrate how good (or bad) changing the camera angle, filters, colour, focus, etc. affects the visuals.
Learn is the special network version for installation in computer labs at qualified academic institutions only. It comes in 10, 20, 30, 40 or more seats to run the full professional Design or Vivien over a network. But it gets even better -- for every 10 seats of either wysiwyg product, CAST gives you one wysiwyg Perform on the same network dongle. (Institutions without a network can use Student Editions instead.)
CAST installs and trains the teaching/coaching staff. CAST's tech support is second to none.
You can assign a standard stage/venue for all your students to work on, either using their own Student Edition or the school's computer lab Learn but utilizing the same venue because it facilitates instructional comparisons in class, team/group and individual project work.
Knowledge, skill and practical experience get students the JOBS, and, in turn, a high number of "hires" of your graduates earns your school the reputation for a credible program, and that attracts even more students.
How can our Learn program work for your school?
Learn includes the wysiwyg and/or Vivien software and a 20 hour onsite installation and training session. We deem the training mandatory for all new installations because it is advantageous and crucial for you to not only know how to confidentally use the software but also to understand how to best approach the training process for your students and acquire current knowledge about the power of wysiwyg. This training is delivered by an Authorized wysiwyg Trainer (AWT) - a person who has taken a CAST course to achieve the status of a sophisticated user. Training includes usage training as well as a suggested curriculum for classes, projects, etc. Refresher training and classroom training can be arranged for and can be delivered via WebEx via through specific arrangement. wysiwyg Learn is more than just a software program -- it is a complete lighting education solution.
Finally, if you are a school interested in acquiring or updating your Learn, or receiving regular updates about specials, sponsorships, wysiwyg The PLAN or the Vivien News (a bi-monthly e-newsletter), and important industry and technology materials (which you can also pass to your students), email CAST learn@cast-soft.com to register your school.
